There is disappointing news for teachers who intend to earn some extra income by taking up roles in the impending biometric voters registration exercise.
The Ghana Education Service has directed that it is unable to release the teachers, explaining academic work will be disrupted if they are allowed to participate in
the exercise which starts on March 24.
It has further directed that all teachers employed by the service will henceforth need also to meet some requirements if they intend to engage in non-academic activities during vacation.
GES Deputy Director-General, Charles Tsegah insists the Electoral Commission should look elsewhere.
The acting Director of Public Affairs at the Electoral Commission, Christian Owusu Peprah has however assured that the directive will not disrupt the impending exercise, explaining that the Commission has not limited its recruitment drives to teachers but that there are other persons to be engaged for the exercise.
